Team NY4P is going digital: you can help us campaign for NYC parks

To help keep NYC healthy, the NY4P team will work remotely for the coming weeks. We are available to speak to any park advocate, and we appreciate your patience as we work to respond to each person’s inquiry. Reach NY4P by phone at 212-838-9410 or on email at ny4p@ny4p.org.

We still have lots of work to do for our parks!

On Friday, the Play Fair Coalition launched the second year of the Play Fair Campaign. After hosting a digital rally, we launched a petition that we need all of our parks partners to sign.

Parks can be great places to practice social distancing: we’re all going to depend on the sunlight, nature, and community atmosphere NYC’s parks give us in the coming weeks. That’s why it’s critically important that we keep up the momentum of the Play Fair Campaign, which calls for $200M invested in NYC’s parks, gardens, and green spaces.

Remember, the NYC Parks Department has the final call on how we can use parks safely at this time. Click here for NYC Parks' official service change updates related to the coronavirus.

The Play Fair Platform in 2020 calls for a $200 million addition to the expense and capital budgets of the NYC Parks Department. See how the Play Fair Coalition, co-founded by NY4P, the NYLCV, and the DC37 Workers' Union, arrived at that figure and what could be possible with those additional public funds. See the 2020 Play Fair Platform.

Due to the coronavirus, we had to move a scheduled rally at City Hall to an online digital rally. Speakers from the City Council and from the Play Fair Coalition submitted videos, which gained more than 4,900 views on Twitter! You can watch the whole thing - all of the videos in one place - on YouTube. Enjoy and spread the word!

While the city confronts this new challenge, Spring is arriving and causing the city to bloom, which reminds us of NYC's resiliency. If you participated in the 2019 Daffodil Project and are now seeing bulbs you planted bloom, feel free to snap photos and share them on social media with the hashtag #DaffodilProject. We hope you can enjoy the Spring blooms in safety!
